article 19, section one of the arkansas constitution states:

Sec. 1. Atheists disqualified from holding office or testifying as witness.

No person who denies the being of a God shall hold any office in the civil departments of this State, nor be competent to testify as a witness in any court.

how do you ascertain that someone does not believe in god?

i mena if iw as on trial and my own testimony was going to hurt me through cross examination or something i be making it loud and clear that i dont believe in god ... prove that i do kinda thing

prolly through the gay 'oath of truth' you take
prior to giving your testimony. but you know,
i'm really talking out my ass... seems that i
recall them changing the 'oath'... but maybe that
was just some cool movie i saw once.

When I had my CDs stolen and I went to court to get something to get them back (can't remember what it was called), I had to sign all these things and stuff and they made me put my hand on the bible and do that whole shamozzle.

Adam and I had a good laugh about it as soon as the guy turned around. Ahhh what a hoot.

hmmm.. that's bad.. having stuff like that in your state laws.
Sure it's not just something that's left in there but no-one ever uses?
Sort of as the old "You will shoot twice before entering the town" stuff?

yeah... its a completely aged rule... however
apparently no one has bothered to repeal/amend
it. shooting twice before entering town... heh
heh... thats funny.
